BRMC Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education Program

Bluefield Regional Medical Center's Graduate Medical Education Programs are dedicated to training physicians to be the best possible primary care physicians.

The goal of our Programs, in conjunction with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Osteopathic Medical Network of Excellence in Education is to provide high-quality programs with a more in-depth study that allows each graduate a level of core condifence, working knowledge, and skills necessary to establish a general foundation in the art and science of disease in an inpatient and outpatient setting.

Our Vision for the graduates of the BRMC Osteopathic Graduate Medical Education Programs are to:

  • Train them to deliver compassionate, high quality patient care;
  • Encourage them to achieve academic and clinical excellence;
  • Create an outstanding learning environment for young physicians;
  • Provide unmatched value to the community where they choose to practice; and,
  • Be responsible physicians who provide the best possible care to all patients while being good stewards of available healthcare resources.

The BRMC-Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine Residency faculty members are “hands-on”, experienced, clinically active, osteopathic and allopathic physicians who are committed to providing the best possible learning experience for residents. The faculty strives to provide a patient-centric, evidence-based medicine educational experience. Residents are given primary patient care responsibility with a faculty readily available to teach and to mentor.

Patient-centric teaching that emphasizes practice based learning, evidence-based medicine, and the importance of professionalism and effective interpersonal communication skills are used throughout the program whether at the (BRMC) Family Healthcare Clinic, the Healthcare for Women Clinic, the Children’s Healthcare Center, in faculty member’s private practices, or on one of the BRMC inpatient services.
